STACKMAS DAY 22
Panettone > Pantone
As an art historian with 20 years in the interior design industry, I’m still not over Pantone’s whole “Cloud Dancer” pendejeria. They know what they did.
As far as I’m concerned, in 2026, Pantone is OUT. Panettone, however, is ALL THE WAY IN, BABY. If you’ve seen them in the stores and kept on walking, you have been missing out. I bought one earlier this month with the intention of doing what I always do with Panettone: turn it into a bread pudding for Christmas Day breakfast. It’s the perfect bread for pudding. I especially like the ones that have little bits of chocolate when I can find them. I love seeing the box on my kitchen shelf throughout the festive season, waiting for the big day.
Then…the news cycle reminded me that it is still very much 2025. And I decided I just couldn’t wait. Plus it’s been so foggy and cold here in San Diego. So I cracked that puppy open. I have no regrets. Pro-tip: toast it. If you have an air-fryer, even better. You will not be sorry.
This one had dried apricots, cherries, and dark chocolate. And it did actually help my mood! On the rare occasion that I’m able to find the mini ones (they sometimes show up at drugstores or World Market) I snap up a half dozen for host gifts. It always makes me feel like Coco Peru (though she famously doesn’t like eating them).
So are you Team Panettone? I’m gonna go toast a slice right now.
Wishing you a happy Stackmas until tomorrow,
Margo

I’ve seen the boxes everywhere but never partaken. I thought it was the Italian version of fruit cake but from your description it’s not.
